Smithsonian's National Zoo
3001 Connecticut Avenue, NW - Washington, DC 20008

The cooler fall weather is finally here! Time to grab your sketchbook or tablet and join your fellow illustrators for a morning of sketching the critters at the National Zoo in Washington DC. We will meet at the Main entrance at 3000 Connecticut Ave. NW (look for the lion statues). Zoo admission is free, but you should bring money for lunch at or near the zoo. Please register so we know how many people to expect, and so we can contact you if the sketch crawl is rescheduled or cancelled.

Be aware that the Zoo is located on hilly terrain in Rock Creek Park, so wear comfortable walking shoes and pack rain gear. Electronic convenience vehicles are available for rent at the visitor center.

Parking at the Zoo is limited and fills up early. The best way to get to the Zoo is by public transportation. The Main Entrance is a 10 minute/half mile level walk from the Cleveland Park Station on the Metro Red Line. Many Maryland stations, such as Glenmont and Shady Grove, offer ample free parking on weekends. Always check the WMATA website for route changes, delays, and escalator/elevator outages. If you decide to drive, please reserve nearby parking in advance. The Zoo Parking & Directions page has a link to book parking through ParkWhiz.

Rain Date: Saturday, October 26 at 10 a.m. -1 p.m.
