In this three-hour craft-based webinar, Emma will be sharing a wide array of tools and techniques for revising all aspects of our manuscripts, focusing on character, voice, worldbuilding, emotional and action plots, and much more. She will lead us through several writing exercises and will be providing many invaluable handouts and worksheets. This webinar will be helpful to authors who have completed drafts of fiction or non-fiction picture book, MG, or YA manuscripts.

Emma Dryden is offering 20-minute live Zoom consultations called Quick Consults. These are NOT critiques of manuscript pages, but are confidential consultancies in which a participant will be able to share concerns or questions with Emma for her insight and feedback.

Emma will meet with authors or illustrators through 20-minute career consultations over Zoom to only discuss or address any one of the following: Career questions/concerns/conundrums; a draft query letter assessment; synopsis (of fewer than 500 words) assessment; a digital portfolio or website review; submission/query questions; agent research/advice; or marketplace questionsNote: Emma will neither recommend nor refer specific agents/agencies. Emma will not be looking at manuscripts.

About the Presenter:

Emma D Dryden established her premier children’s editorial and publishing consultancy firm, drydenbks, in 2010 after two decades as a highly regarded children’s book editor and publisher with Simon & Schuster and Random House. During her tenure as VP, Publisher of Atheneum and Margaret K. McElderry Books, she oversaw the annual publication of more than one-hundred hardcover and paperback titles. Over the course of her thirty-five year career, Emma has edited more than 1,000 books for children and young readers, many of which have received numerous awards and medals, including but not limited to the National Book Award Honor, Newbery Honor, and Caldecott Honor, and which have hit bestseller lists in USA Today, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Publishers Weekly, as well as other national publications. Emma is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators’ Advisory Council, she teaches numerous writing and craft workshops around the world, and can be found online at www.drydenbks.com

A recording of the webinar will be available for 30 days after the live event. The recording will be for registered attendees only, so if you can’t make the live event, you can register to view the recording.

Access information for the live webinar will be sent on the morning of the webinar and access information for the recording will be sent out the following day. Those who purchase critiques will receive submission instructions via email on the day after the live webinar.
