About the webinar:

Summer Springboard for Illustrators 2022 continues with a look at the business side of illustration.

Making a career in our field financially viable sometimes feels like putting together a jigsaw puzzle without the picture on the box to look at. Different pieces pop up that we try to put together–will book advances and royalties land in my account when I think they will? Should I book more speaking events or sell items as a side hustle? What does it mean if I get spousal or family support? Should I quit or keep full time or part time jobs? Let’s dive in and talk about the real struggle of putting those pieces together to make a whole picture.

About the Presenter:

Elizabeth Lilly (she/her) is an author, illustrator, animator and educator. She is the author of two picture books: LET ME FIX YOU A PLATE (2021) and GERALDINE (2018). Elizabeth’s work deals with the difficulty of understanding and loving yourself, and the celebration of your true self once you find it. She struggled to find her own identity growing up, but now finds pride and joy in her own identity as a lesbian, biracial Colombian Latina. In addition to children’s book writing and illustrating, Elizabeth also practices 2D character animation and is working on her first animated short film. When she is not writing, painting or drawing, Elizabeth teaches illustration, drawing and storytelling as an adjunct professor at Towson University. She lives in Takoma Park, Maryland with her partner and white fluffy dog, Ponyo.

You can find out more about Elizabeth on her website,,  and follow her on Instagram @elizabethmlilly, on Twitter @elizabethmlilly, and on Facebook as Elizabeth Lilly Illustration.
