Annual day-and-a-half conference. Asking the question: Who do children's writers and illustrators need to partner with to get good literature in the hands of our children?

MANUSCRIPT CRITIQUES AND PORTFOLIO REVIEWS

Our very efficient critique coordinator worked very hard making a schedule and checking it twice. There are no slots available

 

QUERY LETTER BOOTH

Come with query letters in hand! Our Sweet Sixteens, who have recent success in getting published, will be available to critique those letters on the spot for a nominal fee of $10. Note that payment will be directly to the critiquers, some of whom can take credit cards.This is on a drop-in basis and will be limited to ten-minute exchanges. A schedule will be available at the conference.

 

EVENING EVENTS

Join us in the evenings to get to know each other better.

Kick-off your conference weekend on Friday night with some fun, games, and chances to win Skip-the-Lunch-Line tickets. Snacks, wine, and soft drinks will be served. The fun starts at 7:30 pm in the lobby of the Christiane Inn at the Claggett Center.

Wind down from the wonderful, full day at the conference by attending the Saturday MIX & MINGLE at 7:30 pm in the lobby of the Christiane Inn. Dessert, snacks, wine, and soft drinks will be served. 

When registering, please indicate if you will attend one or both evening events. If you decided at a later date to attend, you can indicate this desire by emailing Sarah Maynard at sarahmdm@gmail.com. Looking forward to gathering and socializing together. 

 

LODGING: There is no room at the Inn! Sorry for the play on words, but we are going to have fun. We are using the beautiful Christiane Inn at Claggett. The rooms are comfortable and feature bathrooms in each room. Each room also comes with a full meal package.The number of rooms is limited. All questions or concerns need to be directed to the region, not to Claggett

 

MEALS: Lodging includes meals. Friday night only package includes Friday dinner through Saturday lunch. Saturday night only package includes Saturday breakfast through Sunday lunch. Commuters will also receive breakfast and lunch for the days they are in attendance.

The Hilton Garden Inn, 7226 Corporate Court, Frederick is also close and very accommodating. Their number is (240) 566-1500.
